Who am I ?

Do you ever have a day where you say “who am I”? Where am I going? When I first wake up I start my day thinking what role do I play this morning? I wear many hats in my life. Let me tell you a little about myself. I am happily married, going on 35 years. My loving husband, Fred, puts up with me, why I’m not sure. We have two wonderful boys, ages 26 and 21, one at home, one not. They will remain nameless for the time being.
I am so privliged to have a wonderful mom whom I care for. She is loving, funny, happy, generous, everyone finds her delightful to be around. Her favorite saying when things aren’t going well, “Turn the page!!!” Life can give her lemons but she always turns it into lemonade. Some of her friends call her “giggles” as she always makes people laugh. She doesn’t live with us but I am her caregiver, she likes to tell everyone that we’ve had a role reversal, although it may seem that way, she’s still my mom. I look forward to more years of laughs and giggles with her. She’s so loveable.
The rest of our family is 3 dogs, 2 LLahsa Apso’s and a boxer, did I mention Large boxer who thinks he’s as big as a toy poodle. He fears the two little dogs like nothing I’ve ever seen. And, he thinks he’s a lap dog, all 85 pounds, I prefer to think of him as a small pony.
I’ve never met a craft I didn’t want to give a try. In the past 5 years or so I’ve taken up sewing again and found quilting as a new passion, actually buying fabric is probably the passion. One can never own enough fabric, every quilter out there can relate to being a fabricaholic. I have now expanded my quilting passion into machine embroidery addiction. Between thread, stabalizer embroidery patterns, quilting patterns and fabric I need an addition on our house, not going to happen, but nice to think about.
Because all of the above isn’t enough to keep me busy I like to volunteer. I have become quite involved with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) I am currently facilitating a 12 week course called “Family to Family”, for families who have loved ones with mental illness. Its a fabulous organization helping to break the stigma of mental illness. The mission is to Educate, Support and Advocate.

Thanks for taking the time to read my first blog, wishing you a blessed day filled with sunshine and laughter.
